Nepali martial artists Sanjeev Tamang and Sanjeet Kumar Rai brought home gold medals from the WMAC World Martial Arts Games held in Slovenia, marking a historic achievement for Nepal in international Kung Fu.

In the three-day tournament, Sanjeev Tamang dominated the 18+ Chinese Forms category with 8.3 points to clinch gold, ahead of Poland (silver) and Germany (bronze). The Kathmandu-based athlete also secured bronze in the under-65 kg Light Contact division by defeating a strong Czech Republic opponent.

Sanjeet Kumar Rai delivered an outstanding performance in Chinese Creative Forms, scoring an impressive 9.2 points to win gold, and added a bronze medal in Traditional Forms.

Siddartha Lama, President of the Nepal Wuma Kungfu Association, congratulated the athletes, calling it “a proud moment for the entire martial arts community in Kathmandu and Nepal.”

These victories highlight the rising standard of martial arts training in Nepal and put Kathmandu on the global Kung Fu map.
